Flashback to 14-year-old Hideto Nakane. He entered his first road race and when it was over, he thought to himself, “What a hard sport.” In fact, he thought it was so hard that he continued to play soccer for four more years and didn’t bother racing again. Luckily for us, Hideto picked up his bike again and has been a bike racer for the last 11 years. In his career, he has raced on four continents and two climbs in particular stand out as his favorites: the Stelvio in Italy and Shibu Pass in Japan.
