Lachlan Morton’s Alt Tour rolled on this spring, when he travelled to Colombia to help distribute the bikes World Bicycle Relief built with funds donated during his Alt Tour of France.

In rural Colombia, Lachlan saw first-hand what bicycles can mean to a community, especially when they are put in the hands of young women and girls, who will use them to pedal beyond their horizons.

Bikes make their long journeys to work much shorter and safer. They help them to transport things from one town to another. And they help them get to school.

“It’s more than just someone getting a bike. It’s about a whole community that can be empowered through the process of giving bikes,” Lachlan says.

Riding bikes is also a lot of fun. Lachlan sure remembered that when he went riding with the Colombian kids.

What is World Bicycle Relief?

On bicycles, people can open a new world of possibilities - especially in places where access to reliable transportation is a luxury. That's why World Bicycle Relief supports individuals and communities in rural regions to go after their dreams with life-changing bicycles. Armed with a rugged Buffalo Bicycle and support from their own communities, they can access critical services, such as education, healthcare and markets. They can face challenges head on and thrive.

Thanks to our incredible community of partners and supporters, we've distributed more than 660,000 bicycles in 21 countries around the world to students, healthcare workers, entrepreneurs and farmers.
