Bike check: Richard Carapaz’s polka-dot LAB71 SuperSix EVO

The King of the Mountains at the Tour de France rode a very special Cannondale for the final time trial in Nice

July 21, 2024

Cannondale built Richard Carapaz a LAB71 SuperSix EVO fit for a king to celebrate his win in the Tour de France’s best-climber competition.

As soon as Richie had sewn up his win in the polka-dot jersey competition, our mechanics went to work, assembling a LAB71 SuperSix EVO to match his King of the Mountains shirt.

For the mountainous final time trial, Richie raced the same feather-light and aero frame on which he soared to victory during stage 17, the same LAB71 SuperSix EVO on which he rode into the yellow jersey and secured his KOM win. The course was either up or down, so he went for his road bike: splattered with red and white polka dots.

Our mechanics mounted Vision Metron 60SL wheels for extra aerodynamics with Vittoria Corsa Pro rubber. Richie rides a Prologo Scratch M5 saddle and dives into corners from his Cannondale x MOMODesign cockpit.

He rides Wahoo SPEEDPLAY AERO pedals with 167.5mm FSA K-Force Cranks.

To celebrate his King of the Mountains win, Wahoo wrapped his ELEMNT Bolt in polka dots
