Bike check: Richard Carapaz’s LAB71 SuperSix EVO
The Olympic champion will race a special Cannondale at the Tour de France
June 30, 2023
Richard Carapaz is excited for the Tour de France to get started.
He wants to race like only Richie Carapaz can—with grit and style and no fear. He will attack the Tour on his Cannondale LAB71 SuperSix EVO. Richie’s frame celebrates his Ecuadorian championship victory and Olympic gold medal.
Cannondale’s ultimate ultralight road racing bike is built to win—like him. With Vision Metron 45 SL wheels, Richie will rocket towards finish lines. On 28mm Vittoria Corsa Pro tubeless tires he’ll float down the road and grip the corners. His Prologo Scratch M5 saddle and bartape will allow him to push power through his Wahoo Speedplay Aero pedals in comfort all the way to Paris.
First, Richie faces a big test at the Grand Depart Pays Basque. The region’s steep climbs and narrow roads will make for dynamic, dangerous racing. With 54-40 FSA chainrings and an 11-34 cassette, Richard will have the gears to attack whenever and wherever he sees an opportunity on the race course. He will only look at the numbers from his power2max powermeter afterwards.
He has done his homework. He is ready for the Tour.
Vamos Richard Carapaz!
