Rigoberto Urán’s SuperSix EVO Leichtbau LTD
Rigo is riding a limited-edition ultralight Cannondale at the Vuelta
August 25, 2022
Rigoberto Urán is ready for takeoff.
His 750g SuperSix EVO Leichtbau LTD Frameset was built to fly. Cannondale made just 200 of the ultralight carbon SuperSix Evo frames. Matte-black with precision-machined alloy details, Rigo’s bike for the Vuelta is number 113. Built with Vision Metron 55 wheels, a Vision Metron 5D carbon cockpit, Prologo Scratch MS saddle, and Wahoo Speedplay aero pedals, it is as light as a pro race bike can be.
Rigo is a pure racer. At home, he and his coach study the numbers from the Power2Max crank on his training bike. At the Vuelta, he has mounted a standard 165mm FSA SLK crankset on his SuperSix EVO Leichtbau LTD. The numbers Rigo cares about now are on results sheets. He’s got a 54-tooth big chainring, so he can sprint out of corners down the highest-speed descents and 26mm Vittoria Corsa tubular tyres for grip. Rigo runs an 11-34 cassette on the back, so he can keep his legs turning supplely on the Vuelta’s steepest climbs.
“I like my new bike,” Rigo says. “It is lighter than my previous one. I like the colour. Right now, I feel perfect on it. Obviously the one who has to ride it up the mountains is me, but having this bike is a huge plus. The previous SuperSix already made me feel very good on the climbs, so for sure this one will make me perform even better. It transfers power very well. Today, we have the first mountain top finish so we’ll see.”
Rigo came to the Vuelta to win a stage and race for the red jersey. At this mountainous grand tour, he is back on his favourite terrain. With his new SuperSix EVO Leichtbau LTD, he is ready to fly.
