Tour de France Femmes daily | stage 7 | Cédrine Kerbaol attacks the descent and gains on GC

‘Even if I had to attack ten times, I would have attacked ten times’

August 1, 2025

Today, Cédrine Kerbaol got to do what she loves best: descend.

Our squad raced stage 7 of the Tour de France Femmes intelligently, keeping Cédrine protected through the early kilometers. With three categorized climbs on the menu, Magdeleine Vallieres shepherded Cédrine over the Côte de Saint-Franc and the Côte de Berland before hitting the Col de Granier.

With the breakaway up the road crumbling, Cédrine bided her time on the Col de Granier, waiting for her moment to strike. On the descent, she absolutely flew. Cédrine made her way through the remnants of the shattered break. She picked her lines, leaning into each curve with her signature grace and deftness.

The work paid off with Cédrine finishing the stage in second place and gaining valuable time on the GC. She’s moved up to seventh place overall ahead of the queen stage tomorrow.

Hear from Cédrine and sport director Daniel Foder about the day’s racing.

Cédrine Kerbaol

I knew I needed to try for as much time as I could to get away. Even if I had to attack ten times, I would have attacked ten times. I didn’t know how many girls were in front so it was kind of a surprise of what result I was going to get.

On the climb, my sensations were quite good. I’m used to dropping and coming back. That’s my weakness and strength at the same time.

Day by day, I’m improving. It’s what I like in stage races. Generally in the first two, three days I don’t feel so good. It gets better and better. It feels like my teammates are having really, really good legs now. They did an amazing job again. A super great job. They gave me so much support again.

Daniel Foder, sport director

The stage was as expected, I would say. We had a big breakaway. They got quite a gap, five minutes or so. In the peloton, it was controlled. It was a selection from the back. Luckily, Cédrine was not too far back on the top of the last climb and she was able to get back on the descent. I think she just attacked right away. So of course she had a gap. She gained some seconds on the GC so that was good. Of course, the only thing for us was that there was one rider in front who took the stage victory. But I don't think we could have done anything different so we just have to be happy with a good result, also some seconds in the GC, and now for her to recover and get back
