Location
Girona is a global cycling hub for good reason. Nestled in the hills of the Gavarres near the sunny Costa Brava and high peaks of the Pyrenees, the Catalan university city is home to some of the best riding in Europe, just an hour away from Barcelona’s international airport. Nearby climbs like Els Àngels and Rocacorba have been testing grounds for professional racers for decades, while a huge network of quiet roads winds out through the rolling countryside around the city, passing old forests and farmland dotted with Mediaeval villages. EF Pro Cycling’s service course is located in Girona and team staff know all of the best routes in the area. Mechanics and soigneurs will follow you on your rides, offering mechanical and nutritional support from a team car, while Team EF Coaching trainers lead your daily riding sessions.
The luxurious Camiral Golf & Wellness Hotel is the ideal base to relax and recharge between rides. Due to host the Ryder Cup in 2031, the hotel offers a tranquil spa and beautiful grounds to enjoy throughout the camp.
WorldTour proven expertise
Our pros work with a team of sports scientists, nutritionists, and coaches to get the best out of themselves. At team camp, they will consult our team’s experts to establish goals for the season ahead and develop their training and racing schedules. November is the time to establish best practices and work out any issues before they ramp up their training volume.
Team EF Coaching athletes can benefit from WorldTour proven expertise.
Team EF Coaching’s lead trainers for the camp, Nicki Sorensen and Colby Pearce, share decades of top-class racing experience between them. During his 15 years as a pro, Colby won 14 U.S. national titles and competed in the Olympic Games. Nicki won stages at the Tour de France and Vuelta a España, as well as four Danish national championships, during his 15-year career as a racer. He has also worked as a WorldTour sports director. Nicki and Colby have direct access to the latest training knowledge and sports science from our professional teams.
They will ride alongside Team EF Coaching athletes at camp. Watching you climb and sprint and ride in a group, they will be able to see strengths and weaknesses they could never glean from a power file. Being right there, they will be able to offer you immediate feedback to help you improve faster and share insights that will stay with you every time you step on a bike.
At the Pro Team Training Camp, Team EF Coaching athletes can also undergo MedCart testing to establish their metabolic rate and VO2 max, the same testing that our pros use to set their training zones and nutrition strategies.
Pro Team Training Camp attendees will also be able to request a professional bike fit to optimize riding biomechanics. Small adjustments can make a big difference to your performance and comfort on the bike.
Focused nutrition
Fuel your training rides with the exact same Amacx bars, chews, gels, and energy drinks that our pro teams use in the hardest classics and grand tours. Team EF Coaching’s nutritionists will advise you on what to eat when, so you can get the most out of your time on the bike, and take those lessons forward into your future training and racing.
Girona is a culinary hub, famous for its gastronomy. Enjoy tasty, nutrient-rich meals to support your individual needs and training demands. Using fresh, seasonal, local ingredients, each meal will be carefully crafted to replenish glycogen stores, aid muscle repair, and keep you energized throughout the day so you can perform at your best, every day of camp.
Camaraderie
Training camps should be fun. You get to ride with other athletes, improve your skills and push your limits together as a group. When there is a wheel in front of you to follow, you can push that much deeper than you could riding alone, watching the number on your bike computer. Rolling through in a pace line, attacking climbs, and riding fast down descents with other riders will make you a better cyclist. Team EF Coaching’s world-class experts will be there with you on the bike to share their best tips and tricks during group rides and help you get better.
Team EF Coaching athletes will also have the opportunity to join our pro athletes on the bike and share a training ride with them during the Pro Team Training Camp.
