Bike check: Kristen Faulkner’s gold stars-and-stripes LAB71 SuperSix EVO

Double Olympic gold-medalist will debut her new Cannondale at the Tour de France Femmes

August 10, 2024

American champion and double Olympic gold medalist Kristen Faulkner will race the Tour de France Femmes on a stellar Cannondale LAB71 SuperSix EVO designed especially for her to celebrate her wins at the Paris Games.

As Kristen was rewarded with her road race gold medal under the Eiffel Tower, Cannondale’s designers rushed to their drawing boards to create a bike for her to race when the Tour de France Femmes starts in Rotterdam.

From Harvard to Wall Street to double Olympic Gold, Kristen epitomizes the American Dream. The former college rower only took up cycling after she had graduated and was working for a venture capital firm in Manhattan. Earlier this summer, she won the US championships, fulfilling one of her childhood ambitions. Going to the Olympics had always been her greatest dream. Gold in the road race and gold in the team pursuit on the track were her rewards for dreaming big, working hard, and believing in herself. Cannondale wanted to create a bike that celebrated her achievements and everything they represent.

Inspired by Old Glory, as a salute to her American championship win, with gold stripes and stars in tribute to her Olympic medals, Kristen’s LAB71 SuperSix EVO is ready to shine at the Tour de France Femmes.

Under the special paint is Cannondale’s ultimate race bike, manufactured from ultra-light Series 0 carbon. Snappy and nimble, it’s as aero as competitors’ pure aero bikes, ready to cut through the crosswinds in the Dutch polders, and so light that Kristen will fly when she puts power into the pedals in the mountains later in the race.

Kristen’s bike is kitted out with Vision Metron 45 SL wheels which balance lightweight and aerodynamic performance. She trusts Vittoria’s fast and grippy Corsa Pro rubber.

Her Prologo Dimension Tri CPC 143 saddle and Prologo bar tape will keep her comfortable on the bike for the duration of the Tour de France Femmes.

Kristen rides 54-40 FSA K-Force cranks with an 11-34 cassette, so she can push power through the pedals across all terrain, from the Dutch flatlands to the Alps.

Wahoo SPEEDPLAY AERO pedals provide best-in-the-peloton cornering clearance, giving her a massive advantage in every turn. A quick glance at her Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt helps her control her pace, especially when she goes solo like she did at the Olympic Games.
